In the last few years, I have been asked time and again what SAP Basis is and what we SAP Basis administrators do in our daily work. With this blog post I would like to provide a little insight into exactly this area of work.
In the beginning, in our company the installation and management of the systems were dealt with by the functional consultants/consultants of the respective systems. The CRM consultant was responsible for the SAP CRM system, the SRM consultant for the SAP SRM, etc.

Instead of data maintenance and application development, SAP Basis is more about providing and maintaining the software environment on which the data resides and is processed. Therefore, SAP Basis is an important core of any SAP infrastructure and is required in both predecessor versions such as R/3 and current versions such as S/4HANA 2021.

This transaction provides you with many other database management features, an editor that allows you to easily execute your SQL queries against your SAP system.
