Any mistake in this area can cause the company's data protection officers to wring their hands over their heads. For this reason, tools are currently being developed to provide security and visibility in the HR permissions area. The basic idea is a clear overview that shows which data certain users in the SAP system can access. Based on this, automatic checks can be developed, which run in the background and regularly check whether critical gaps have been created by changes to the permissions in the HR area. The use of such a tool can create more security, especially in the HR authorisation environment. In addition, the possibility of the overview function is very pleasant and relieving for all involved. Therefore, it is recommended to start thinking about how your company is prepared for security automation. The implementation of a cross-sectional function will promote and safeguard the operation of the SAP systems that form the backbone of the company. By coordinating the SAP basis with other IT departments, the optimisation is always done in the overall context of the company or the IT organisation. Eliminating the separation of SAP and non-SAP topics in areas where it is considered useful will lead to expert groups and synergy effects through centralisation.

Within the framework of an innovation team or test laboratory to be created, it is necessary to admit ideas outside of the SAP basis or to consciously use other sources of ideas within and outside the company. These may include business units, external service providers, universities or series of lectures on specific topics.
Following the recommendation of dividing the SAP basis into an application-orientated and infrastructure-related SAP basis [A4], Figure 3 shows a possible presentation form. The SAP-Basis interface function is structured into a SAP basis, which is close to the application and is responsible for coordination and communication with vertical and higher IT specialist and business areas, and a SAP basis close to the infrastructure.
