Risk: historically grown authorizations
Authorization roles (transaction PFCG)
The concept for in-house developments is obligatory for every company that writes its own software. It specifies requirements, for example, for the structure, naming and documentation of program components, and in particular for dealing with safety-critical aspects. The wording should not be too general, but should explicitly address the special features of programming in SAP.

Well-maintained suggestion values are extremely helpful for creating PFCG roles. We will give you a rough guide as to when it makes sense to maintain suggestion values. SAP provides suggested values for creating PFCG roles in the USOBT and USOBX tables via upgrades, support packages, or hints. These suggestion values include suggested values for permissions of SAP default applications that can be maintained in PFCG roles. Suggestion values are supplied not only for transaction codes, but also for Web Dynpro applications, RFC function blocks, or external services. You can customise these suggestion values to suit your needs. However, this does not happen in the supplied tables, but in the USOBT_C and USOBX_C customer tables. Care is carried out in the transaction SU24.
Authorization concept - user administration process
Make sure that the client-independent tables for logging are always logged when the parameters are not set to OFF. In addition to the parameters listed here, the table itself must also have the table logging hook set; This is usually done with the help of the transaction SE13. The settings are made in development and then transported to the other systems. The SAP standard already provides some tables for logging; For an overview of these tables, see SAP Note 112388 (tables requiring logging). You can evaluate the logging settings of the tables using the RDDPRCHK report or the RDDPRCHK_AUDIT transaction in the SAP system. The selection is made in the start image of the report, e.g. via the table name or the selection of options for logging.

When creating the PFCG individual roles in the respective SAP system, you should create the menu structure so that they can be combined with other individual roles in a single role. Once you have created the individual roles with the correct role menu, you can assign them to a collection role. Add the Role Menu to the Collect Roll using the Read Menu button. The menu can now be finally sorted. If changes to the roll menu are necessary, however, you must first make them in the individual rolls and then remix them in the roll roll (using the Mix button, see figure next page above). Transactions from other SAP systems such as SAP CRM, SAP SCM etc. can also be integrated into the NWBC. To do this, you first create the PFCG role for the relevant transactions in the target system. From the individual roles you can create collection roles with a defined menu structure.

Assigning a role for a limited period of time is done in seconds with "Shortcut for SAP systems" and allows you to quickly continue your go-live.

You have developed applications yourself and would like to maintain suggestion values for them? The easiest way to do this is with the help of the permission trace.

Law-critical authorizations in particular, such as deleting all change documents, debugging ABAP programs with Replace, and deleting version histories, must never be assigned in a production system, as these authorizations can be used to violate the erasure ban, among other things.
