Transactional and Native or Analytical Tiles in the FIORI Environment
Finally, we want to give you some recommendations for securing file access. The SPTH table allows you to protect the file system from ABAP programme accesses without granting permissions and to deliberately define exceptions. The problem is identifying the necessary exceptions. However, because the SPTH check is always performed together with the S_DATASET object check, you can use a long-running permission trace to find the paths that are used with filters for the S_DATASET authorization object. The procedure for this is described in detail in our Tip 39, "Maintain suggestion values by using trace evaluations". If you are using applications that access files in the DIR_HOME directory without a path, such as the ST11 transaction, you must specify access to the allowed file groups individually (e.g. dev_, gw_), because there is no wild card for DIR_HOME.

Administrative activities are used to control system behavior and make various security-relevant settings. To minimize the risk of a system failure or the creation of a security vulnerability, administrative rights should only be granted to employees in the basic administration. The following list may be supplemented by suggestions from the company's own administration. It contains only the most important authorization objects for each subject area.

Transactions: Transactions in the audit structure start the necessary evaluations for the audit. You can recognise transactions by the clock symbol ( ). Double-clicking on the icon opens the transaction in a new window and allows you to start the evaluation. In addition, the SAIS transaction log entries for this audit activity are displayed in the upper right pane of the display. These include the current date of execution, the verifier's user ID, a check status that you assign yourself, a weighting, and a justification for the check status that you also enter into a text box. Below is an overview of the audit activities performed so far, also with a time stamp, the user ID of the verifier, the weighting of the status of the audit activity and a justification. In order not to manipulate the scanning activities, it is not possible to modify data stored once.

RFC connections are interfaces for many local and global system processes, but also a security-relevant source of errors for many companies. The RFC interfaces and associated system users often have too strong authorizations and can quickly be misused by unauthorized persons to view sensitive company data. It is therefore important to always keep these system connections in the focus of global monitoring and to check which RFC destinations lead where and what they do. For this purpose there is the program RSRFCCHK which allows you to perform specific tests for your RFC system landscape. On the one hand the content of the RFCDES table is checked and on the other hand the corresponding user properties of the system users are displayed as an overview. Consequently, important parameters such as the target machine, the client, the background user or also the password property can be checked in an overview.

Authorizations can also be assigned via "Shortcut for SAP systems".

These in-house developments often present serious security vulnerabilities because they have insufficient authorization checks in the coding.

Make sure that external services in the Customer Name Room also have the names of external services and their suggestion values in the tables maintained (see Tip 41, "Add external services from SAP CRM to the proposal values").
