The high manual maintenance effort of derived roles during organisational changes bothers you? Use the variants presented in this tip for mass maintenance of role derivations. Especially in large companies, it often happens that a worldwide, integrated ERP system is used, for example, for accounting, distribution or purchasing. You will then have to limit access to the various departments, for example to the appropriate booking groups, sales organisations or purchasing organisations. In the permission environment, you can work with reference roles and role derivations in such cases. This reduces your administrative overhead for maintaining functional permissions and reduces the maintenance effort for role derivations to adapt the so-called organisational fields. However, maintaining the organisational fields can mean enormous manual work for you, as the number of role derivations can become very large. For example, if your company has 100 sales organisations and 20 sales roles, you already have 2,000 role outlets. Here we present possible approaches to reduce this manual effort.

When configuring the Security Audit Log, you must consider the storage of the files. At least one separate file is created for each day. When the maximum size of all files for the tag is reached, additional events are stopped. So you should always adjust the maximum size of the file to your needs using the parameters rsau/max_diskspace/per_file and rsau/max_diskspace/per_day. The rsau/max_diskspace/local parameter is obsolete in this case, but remains active if the other two parameters are not maintained.

Check to see if there are any corrective recommendations to follow for your release. We recommend that you run the SU24_AUTO_REPAIR correction report before executing the transaction SU25 (see tip 38, "Use the SU22 and SU24 transactions correctly"). If necessary, run this report in the old lease, but in any case before importing the new proposal values. Use the test mode of the report to look at possible corrections in advance. In addition, to ensure that you do not lose information with your upgrade work, you can write and release the data from the SU24 transaction on step 3 (customer table transport) in the SU25 transaction to a transport order. This way, a backup of your SU24 data is made. Now the upgrade work can begin. Warning: Do not perform step 1 (customer tables were initially filled), because this overwrites the USOBT_C and USOBX_C customer tables, i.e. the SU24 data, completely with the SAP suggestion values. However, you want to keep your SU24 data and add to the proposed changes for the new release!

A note on the underlying USKRIA table: This table is independent of the client. For this reason, you cannot maintain this table in systems that are locked against cross-client customising. In this case, you should create a transport order in the development system and transport the table to the production system.

Assigning a role for a limited period of time is done in seconds with "Shortcut for SAP systems" and allows you to quickly continue your go-live.

This toggles the setting in the SCC4 transaction for changing and recording custom customising objects ("Client modifiability") for role maintenance.

Re-load the role in the PFCG transaction if the application has already been rolled.
